Roland, so good to have you here--sorry I missed you in Vancouver. Hoping that Northern Voice is a go!

Alana, thanks for commenting--I am always delighted to have new voices join my wee conversation. I like how you describe the difference between physical community work and online networks. Looking forward to checking out the Futures project.

Alan, you have to get your dog self out here soon! Coming in May means full tilt mud and wee bits of green.

Hi - following links and ended up on this post - fantastic! As a woman who sees participatory ideas bubbling up from communities and then informing the networks, I couldn't agree with you more. Community work is slower but like a great meal sustaining. Online work is quick and moves fast and like a great desert, gives us a buzz! Both in unison, over time may have a lovely harmony.

Or so I think - and so the Futures project(s) will be designed. Check us out if you get a chance - meantime - thanks for a lovely post.

Thanks, Jen and D'Arcy for your encouragement! Working on the Centers for Community Digital Exploration and on my picture-taking (and working about the land) fill my post-Academy days with creative opportunities.
Great post! And I was going to compliment you on gathering the photos - until I realized that YOU TOOK THEM ALL! How awesome is THAT? Nicely done!

"not yet D'Arcy Norman enough"? definitely the first time I've ever heard that :-) I only ride so much because I'm too darned cranky to enjoy sharing a crowded bus, and too pigheaded to drive. It's too far to walk, so that leaves the bike...
